With a budget of 5000 polygons, it was exciting to work with limits while aiming to accurately adapt the artist's concept to a 3D model. A character model can be challenging to get just right, but this project was a great way to practice both technical and artistic skills. Ultimately, pushing the quality of the model’s texturing is what makes for an effective final result.
Featuring a simple backyard wooden fort, this environment was inspired by childhood whimsy, imagination, and the early development of Nightland, a senior capstone project. This project served as a learning opportunity first and foremost: optimizing workflow efficiency by using new program tools, experimenting with art style, and researching the different types of 3D modeling career paths. Keeping the concept and process fun allowed for a fulfilling project in the end.
